Bobby here. Husband, father of two, and the founder of ionbottles.com, a hydrogen-water brand I built on Shopify from nothing to $8.5 million in sales and over $2 million in profit in four years, with no investors and no agency.

It didn’t start as a plan. In 2020 I was laid off from a business-development job at a consulting firm, with a mortgage, a young family and a shoulder in a sling from surgery. I taught myself e‑commerce from YouTube in the evenings. My first store sold inflatable pools and did $200,000 in two months of a pandemic summer. Then I bought a struggling water-bottle store off Flippa for less than a used truck and rebuilt it into ionbottles.

The thing I learned that nobody had told me: the hard part isn’t effort. It’s sequence. I wasted months on logos and theme colors before I understood which things have to happen first. Product before store design. Numbers before inventory. Content before ads. Once I had the order, everything else was just evenings.
